Countries which are not in the European Union but which are on this map are, from the north; Iceland, Norway, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Turkey, Macedonia, Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Switzerland, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco. Three countries have applied to join the EU, these are; Croatia, Macedonia and Turkey.
